When we were in Maine a few weeks ago visiting Ellen and Rick, we came across a beautiful lily pond that is right out of an Impressionist painting. I tried an 'experimental' technique that I never used before while silk painting: applying the gutta resist all over the surface of the silk prior to putting down any dyes. It is the opposite of what I usually do. The final painting is on a silk scarf.
